Maybe I'd better post this in a more prominent place--

I have been into the Leopard Install DVD _and_ the Tiger version with Pacifist. Using FIND --was able to locate only a bewildering of files related to iPhoto -- iPhoto NIB for example but nary an installer app anywhere. Does anyone know what to do here?

BTW Pacifist is a really cool app -- if only I could figure out how to make it do what I want... Undecided

The app installers are usually ".pkg" files (packages). Maybe "iphoto.pkg"or "iphoto_install.pkg"?

You can also just run the os installer (reboot from the install disk), but choose to install only the iPhoto application.

Ah! The latter course would appear to be the simplest and cheapest!  I'll give it a bash on Sunday when it's raining and I can't go out to play.

Thanks Grin

Nope -- tried the latter approach -- all I ended up with was a full system install (which did not include iPhoto) which I then had to upgrade and migrate stuff too (3 hours for no return) -- could not find the option to install only iPhoto.

Pacifist just leads me into labyrinths -- no iPhoto.pkg that's for sure.

Maybe I need more time free -- it's always late on when I try this stuff.   :'(

Just a quick idea.  Is iphoto part of Leopard or is it now only found in iLife?  Also it looks like you can download up to 7.1.3

Thanks -- but that link is to an upgrade to 7.1.2 for which you need 7.1.2.

There is no version on my HD right now as I dumped it (it wasn't working so...). I'm waiting for a reply from the Pacifist chap -- then I'll try Apple advice.

Sigh Huh

Sorry, mate, not much time over here, and haven't been on the forum for a while.

Harrumph. Indeed, iPhoto does not seem to be on either the Leopard or Tiger discs. I guess it exists only on the iLife DVD or on the original Install discs that come with iMacs (and MacBooks?). I guess what one needs to do is grab it from the iLife disk or the Install Disk that came with the machine disc and then - before running it - do the software update.

JD >> yes -- that is what the Pacifist man recommends. Now all I have to do is find the Panther set of disks and we _should_ be OK.  Tongue

FINALLY -- got the problem sorted. Had to use my daughter's set of install CDs as I have given my Leopard set away. Note to self -- better get that back.

Used Pacifist to locate iPhoto app and then extract the bits. Then Software update to get it up to scratch. All fine and dandy now.

Now I will pay the $20 shareware fee to yer man the Pacifister.

Thanks to all who tried to help. Cheesy

Er...I shudder to ask, for what kind of "collection"...

Glad JD's back on track with iPhoto. Never had much trouble with it, wish I had more time to play with it (which means I'd have to make time to *take* photos Undecided).

A good app for managing different iPhoto libraries (for example, work, family, rock collection) is, as the name suggests, iPhoto Library Manager.
