Finally managed to connect to my dad on Skype in USA. The weirdest thing is that his image is upside down. BUT his camera is built into his Windows Laptop (Fujitsu?) and I can't find any info on such a problem.

He had been an Apple user but someone persuaded him regrettably to go windows. My dad is 89, with limited vision and some loss of cognition at times. He has the nasty habit of clicking on everything that comes down the pike, so a hack or virus is a possibility.

There is also a cartoon character of a Ninja in his profile photo which suggest to me he has been hacked... unless my sister put that there, or a comical assistant at his local computer shop. He is often attempting to get computer assistance and he must be a handful for the staff.

Has anyone heard of such a problem before?
Dad says he seems to recall once taking a self-image with the built in camera and the image being right-side up at the time.

Hi Robert,

Congratulations on getting your dad on Skype!  I hope I'm still tackling new software at 89.   Wink

Sorry I don't know the answer to your query.  His video image is upside down?  That is a strange one.

Best of luck!

Upside-down video image is the weirdest thing I've heard about.

But I love Skype -- I've been talking to my parents (D79 & M84) almost every Sunday for the past 3 years. Recently a we've upraed to G5s the built-in webcam adds an extra dimensio.

Also, on Saturdays Dad tunes into the football radio broadcast there at 15.00 and I sit here at midnight wearing the team shirt and rooting for them.
