Anyone have suggestions for a cooling pad that you like for your laptop?  As summer approaches, I find my MacBook is often very warm/hot and the fan is running frequently.

Many thanks in advance!

What I did with my old G4 PowerBook which runs hot is to make a simple trellis-type frame using half-inch square dowel for it to rest on with air circulating underneath. Did not completely cure the problem, but fan cutting in took much longer to happen.

Thanks, John.  Yes, I'm using something like that now, but it still is a bit too hot for me.  I'll keep searching.

My ultimate solution to the problem was to buy an aluminium-bodied MacBook Pro. Cool as ice -- I had to keep stopping using it at first to blow on my fingers. Still a bit chill to the touch and it's nearly bloody June...  The old G4 PowerBook is out at grass right now, seeing if the bodge I tried has cured it of evil spirits called Kermel panics. Undecided

My simple solution: hemispheres! For years I've used a product like this one:

Even fits into my protective sleeve--never take'em off Wink

Yes, I remember admiring these at the last meeting when I noticed them on your computer.

Thanks, Ron!

There are flat pads with built in fans, about 1.5 cm thick that you can put under your Macbook. Look at Yodobashi Camera or on the web. I bought one years ago in Bangkok and it runs on USB power.

Thanks, Julian.  I just got something like that from Amazon and it makes a big difference.
