i have figured out how to upload my pictures to my iPad with an app from the Apple store but i still don't know how to upload pdf and Pages files to my iPad.

Te Apples store has some help info via iTunes but it doesn't work at all.

How do you upload Pages and pdf files to your ipad?

Thanks,

Julian

Hi Julian,

It is certainly not intuitive!

You need an app that can read pdf files - any reader will do.  I have the Stanza app - a free download for books etc.

You then connect your iPad to your Mac with the usual USB cord, and then click on the iPad in iTunes Device list.

Then click on the Apps tab for the iPad, and scroll down to the bottom of the page - there you will find File Sharing.  Click on Stanza - or whatever app you have chosen - and you will be asked to chose the file you want to add.  Pick the pdf file you want, then sync your iPad again.  Bingo - you can access your pdf file from the Stanza - or whatever app you have chosen.

This is just for reading the file - not sure what app you would need to be able to edit DOC or other files.

Thanks Anne,
The iPad setup etc in certainly not intuitive - very different from the Mac computers - disappointing as well that there is so little info out there.
The confusion was about which apps tab to click on. I was clicking on the apps tab in the iTunes menu instead of the one in the iPad menu so that didn't lead anywhere. I have GoodReader for pdfs - not free but not expensive either. It seems to be the bestselling app for pdfs.
