I settled on a Sony Handycam SR 45 (Hybrid HDD). Found the power input, still looking for the gas tank... Got it in the States at a non box store, thus paid more than possible but supported a local store...
The folks said that although the software provided supported a PC, iMovie would import the video.
I think the import button is next to the gas tank cap, but if anyone has a different approach, I'd 'preciate it...

Import is automatic on an intel Mac. Slick.
Still haven't found the gas tank cap...
Next task is to upload the clip to something...
